It is once again that the District Convocation is to nominate and elect its officers for another four-year period. This is an honor and privilege to participate in selecting our leadership for the up-coming four years.
All elected officers for the Southern District Convocation Department are up for election in the 2008 elections. The election is scheduled to be held here at headquarters during the 2008 Annual Convocation.
The Southern District nomination committee is prepared to begin receiving nominations for the twenty-eight (28) Southern District positions. Our 2008 elections are based upon the nomination procedure packets attached to this document.
The criteria and qualifications for each position are outlined in the UHCA 2005 Manual. The guidelines and procedures for nomination are outlined in the enclosed Southern District Nomination packet for the 2008 election.
Also, the nomination committee has reserved the right to interview all candidates that are nominated. This is to ensure that proper evidence of ecclesiastical and administrative ability, spiritual and temporal leadership are in place. This will also allow the opportunity to examine the evidence of successful experience, proper involvement in the district, and status of current position being held.

Thank you for your time, and remember, we should not make nominations based on popularity, but upon the ability to get the job done, thereby allowing our Convocation to have the people who will lead us to the next level during the next four years. Let us make a prayerful nomination selection.

Nominating Committee Procedures
The following are the procedures that will be followed for the nominating process.
1. Applicants must submit a completed packet prior to deadline. (July 31, 2007)
a. Laity must submit the Pastoral Reference Form.
b. Pastors must submit Pastoral Reference Form completed by the District Elder.
c. Bishops need not submit Pastoral Form.
2. All applications must be typewritten; otherwise it will not be accepted.
3. An applicant can nominate him/herself.
4. Any applicant that is nominated by someone other than themselves must consent by completing the Nomination/Acceptance Form.
5. An applicant can only be considered for one position.
6. An applicant must submit to an interview with the committee.
7. The initial interview process will begin during the One Day Conference and continue through Convocation 2007.
8. The Nomination Period is from Mid Year Conference February 2007 through the Missionary Convention July 31, 2007. Applications will not be accepted after the deadline unless there are vacancies, which the committee will identify.
9. An approved list of qualified candidates will be submitted during our annual Convocation September 2007.
